Ted Cruz came out recently and claimed that the first amendment would be amended to allow congress to regulate speech. I am flabbergasted. This would be horrible, I have no idea if it is true or not.

Help Gordon Martines become the next Sheriff of Clark County, Nevada by donating to the "Rock The Boat" moneybomb this weekend. Gordon Martines is the only candidate for Sheriff who visited the Bundy Ranch and as Sheriff he will not enforce the "Blue Card Law" that requires Clark County residents to register their handguns. He is also against the NDAA. Gordon is a lifetime member of Oath Keepers and as Sheriff he will require all LVMPD employees to carry a copy of the Constitution with them at all times. The moneybomb began on May 23rd and will end on May 25th.

Obamacare: The Tragedy Continues

Posted: 23 May 2014 03:49 PM PDT

"The Obama administration has quietly adjusted key provisions of its signature healthcare law to potentially make billions of additional taxpayer dollars available to the insurance industry if companies providing coverage through the Affordable Care Act lose money.

The move was buried in hundreds of pages of new regulations issued late last week. It comes as part of an intensive administration effort to hold down premium increases for next year, a top priority for the White House as the rates will be announced ahead of this fall's congressional elections.

Lost, Drunk, and in Love in Europe

Posted: 23 May 2014 01:57 PM PDT

Wars have a way of shaping generations and cultures. After World War Two, the birthrate in America skyrocketed and gave us the Baby Boomer generation. The televised violence of the Vietnam War sparked controversy in the country which led to numerous anti-war protests and peace rallies by a group of young people referred to as hippies. The years after World War One saw a generation of young people trying to put their lives back together; this generation became known as the Lost Generation.

In numerical terms, members of the lost generation include people born between the years of 1890 and 1900 (Dolan 12). World War I played a significant part in lives of the members of the Lost Generation, and the characters in The Sun Also Rises were part of this group. Yet despite the major role the war had in shaping their lives, it is hardly mentioned at all in the book.

At one point Jake refers to the war as a "calamity for civilization," and his wound from the war is brought up very casually in conversations from time to time, but other than that there is very little discussion about the war (Hemingway 17).

Feds Won't Allow Water For Pot Growers

Posted: 23 May 2014 11:51 AM PDT

The Feds are going to make this as difficult as possible.

By Rob Hotakainen, McClatchy Washington Bureau - May 20, 2014

WASHINGTON — Delivering a major blow to state-licensed pot growers in Washington state and Colorado, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation said today it will not allow any federally-controlled water to be used on marijuana crops.

"As a federal agency, Reclamation is obligated to adhere to federal law in the conduct of its responsibilities to the American people," said Dan DuBray, the agency's chief of public affairs.

The decision could hit particularly hard in Washington state, with the federal agency controlling the water supply for two-thirds of Washington state's irrigated land.

Growers in Colorado will be less affected because the state allows only indoor pot farms.

3 Months Since Legalizing Marijuana, Here's What Colorado Looks Like

Posted: 23 May 2014 11:36 AM PDT

POLICY MIC - The news: Colorado's pot sales are booming.

The state's Department of Revenue reports that marijuana retailers sold nearly $19 million in recreational weed in March, up from $14 million in February. The first three months of legal weed have netted about $7.3 million in taxes, not including medical marijuana sales taxes and licenses, which bring the number to $12.6 million. In it's first few months, Colorado could already soon be outpacing those historic first-day sales on a daily basis.

Retail marijuana sales taxes brought in $1.4 million in January, $1.43 million in February and now $1.898 million in March — a clear upward trajectory. And total marijuana tax transfers and distributions went from $2.927 million in January to $4.077 million in March. And perhaps more importantly, while it's still somewhat early, the up-trending numbers indicate that initial sales weren't simply the result of "new-toy" excitement wherein everyone was buying pot just because they could. Coloradans wanted marijuana before, and they still do now.
