| Drudge Headline - "Globalists Humiliated by Farage" Posted: 27 May 2014 08:50 AM PDT The UKIP leader told critics who think his party has peaked with last night's victory in the European elections 'you ain't seen nothing yet', as he announced plans to launch new party policy in the Labour leader's backyard. With 11 regions declared, UKIP has won more than 27 per cent of the vote, electing 24 MEPs, leaving Labour and the Tories to battle it out for second for the first time in 100 years. In a speech to a victory rally in central London, Mr Farage said the party would now focus on trying to win next week's Newark by-election before attempting to secure enough MPs in Westminster to hold the balance of power in a hung parliament. |
| City of Detroit is auctioning off properties. Posted: 27 May 2014 07:05 AM PDT For anyone interested, there are many very well built houses up for auction by the city of Detroit. The city of Detroit owns and estimated 60% of all property in Detroit. In order to raise money to pay off creditors and get properties back on the tax rolls the City of Detroit is auctioning them via the Detroit Land Bank. Great opportunity for liberty minded individuals. Great pro-gun police chief. Wave of new residence coming into the city. Blighted building being torn down driving criminal activity elsewhere. |

| Posted: 27 May 2014 06:00 AM PDT "The Forest Service officers descended on the ski resort on Feb. 22, saying they were working on tips about possible drug deals, as well as reckless and drunk driving. The searches didn't yield much — citations and warnings were issued for violations ranging from "possession amounts" of marijuana to cracked windshields — but angered a number of patrons who said the operation was heavy-handed. Several people accused the officers of being rude. In the immediate aftermath of the sweep, Johnson went so far as to call them "jack-booted thugs." |
| Why Online Games Turn Players Into Psychopaths Posted: 27 May 2014 05:44 AM PDT By Ryan Rigney | 05.26.14 | Wired Three men stand on a deserted street, their hands in the air. One wears a green T-shirt and a motorcycle helmet. The others wear bright yellow down jackets. They are surrounded by four armed men. "Gentlemen," a man called Klyka says, "we are going to play a very interesting game." He commands the hostages to drop their axes, then continues. "This is DayZ," he says. "Someone always has to die when players meet. But we're going to make this interesting." He directs the men in yellow to sit cross-legged, 20 yards from each other, axes midway between them. There can be only one yellow jacket in this group, he says. The two men consider what he says. Klyka goes on. "When I shoot in the air you guys will run for your axes, and you'll try to grab them." The last man standing, he says, will be released. |
| Darpa Turns Oculus Rift Into A Weapon For Cyber War Posted: 27 May 2014 05:32 AM PDT By Andy Greenberg | 05.23.14 | Wired For the last two years, Darpa has been working to make waging cyberwar as easy as playing a video game. Now, like so many other games, it's about to get a lot more in-your-face. At the Pentagon Wednesday, the armed forces' far-out research branch known as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency showed off its latest demos for Plan X, a long-gestating software platform designed to unify digital attack and defense tools into a single, easy-to-use interface for American military hackers. And for the last few months, that program has had a new toy: The agency is experimenting with using the Oculus Rift virtual-reality headset to give cyberwarriors a new way to visualize three-dimensional network simulations–in some cases with the goal of better targeting them for attack. "You're not in a two-dimensional view, so you can look around the data. You look to your left, look to your right, and see different subnets of information," Darpa's Plan X program manager Frank Pound told WIRED in an interview. "With the Oculus you have that immersive environment. It's like you're swimming in the internet." |
