Rand Paul Weighing Dual Run for White House, Senate

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul said Thursday that a state law preventing candidates from having their names appear more than once on the ballot won't deter him from staging dual campaigns for Senate re-election and president — if he decides to run for the White House in 2016.

As for whether he'll mount a presidential bid, that's a weighty subject still being discussed by his family, Paul told The Associated Press.

"I would just say it's probably not a conclusion yet, but it is something that's an ongoing discussion," the first-term Republican senator said.

But he's a libertarian candidate for Senate in North Carolina, and his name is on the ballot, and recent polls shows he's doing, well, not terrible. They also show that he siphons off votes from the Republican nominee. So Democrat Kay Hagan, one of the Senate's most vulnerable incumbents, potentially stands to benefit a lot from Haugh's candidacy.

CONCORD, N.H., June 4, 2014 – Today, the New Hampshire House and Senate gave final approval to a bill which bans government officials from obtaining "information contained in a portable electronic device" without a warrant "signed by a judge and based on probable cause." It now goes to the Governor's desk for a signature

House Bill 1533 (HB1533) was introduced by Rep. Neal Kurk and passed both the House and Senate by unanimous voice votes.
