In this ongoing operation, some three out of four Palestinians killed have been civilians. The infrastructure has been decimated. | Inside the Great Pyramid at Giza Posted: 29 Jul 2014 07:28 PM PDT Back when I went a little bit crazy, I flew into Cairo, where I stayed in a hostel for about a week. From there, I took a cab to Giza to see the Pyramids up close. Of course I'd seen pictures of them, and I'd read all kinds of crazy things about them, but I wanted to go there to see if I felt anything. There had been a massacre of tourists in Luxor about six months before I arrived, and as a result Giza was completely deserted. It should have been a blessing, but I could not go more than a minute without encountering a tout who wanted to sell me: Water, Fanta, Coca-Cola, pictures of hieroglyphics on fake papyrus, a ride on a camel (which I eventually did take), even - I kid you not - a Barbie doll. The only place I could get any peace and quiet was inside the pyramid itself, where I took this selfie on an analog SLR with 35mm film. I promised in another thread that I'd post it, so here it is!  |

| I'm back, and my mind is right. Posted: 29 Jul 2014 06:19 PM PDT I feel like I've been gone for a year or more, but it has only been a few months. I've rested, found a new job, and found some new hobbies. With all that said, I've missed the Daily Paul and I could never escape thinking about it, especially with everything going on in the world. This is my extended family, and I am grateful to be a member. I just hope I haven't lost my groove here. ;) thanks again Michael for giving me a home here and thank you all for being so kind to me. :) |
