Consumer sentiment hits lowest level since March

ABC:
Unemployment rate creeps up - but with silver lining

NBC news
No economic news

Wall Street Journal:
Stock market steady (as market dips another 30 points 10 minutes into trading)

Nothing to see here people, move along, the recovery is going fine!

A New National Heritage Area in Washington State

Senator Maria Cantwell has sponsored a new bill that will create a new national heritage area in Washington State. Sen. Cantwell happens to be the junior senator from Washington and the only co-sponsor is the senior senator from Washington, Sen. Patty Murray. The bill proposes to turn 1.5 million acres of western Washington into national heritage area.

Fukushima Safe Fish?

I like to cook, and everyone knows fish is a great health food. But post-Fukushima, I now wonder just how contaminated the Pacific Ocean-based food supply has become. So I tried to logically determine which would be the most Fukushima-safe fish that I can actually buy at my local grocery store. I share my analysis here with you....

I decided that the "healthiest" fish (in moderate quantities) would be the one which:
1) is high in Omega-3 fatty acids (i.e., is a fatty fish), and
2) is isolated from the Pacific Ocean, and away from industrial pollution sources in general
