Posted: 02 Aug 2014 05:09 AM PDT A heated debate over the southern border crisis late Friday led to a rancorous confrontation on the floor of the House between House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Rep. Tom Marino, R-Pa. The dustup began when Marino accused Democrats of neglecting the immigration issue during their control of the White House and Congress in 2009 and 2010, saying that the party is now exploiting the issue for political gains.

Rand Paul Rips Hillary Clinton: Not 'Fit to Lead the Country' Posted: 01 Aug 2014 08:00 PM PDT Sen. Rand Paul delivered an unusually harsh rebuke of Hillary Clinton in Kentucky on Friday night, declaring that his potential 2016 rival is not "fit to lead the country." Paul, who is laying the groundwork to run for president in 2016, began his speech by mockingly saying he was losing sleep over Clinton's money woes. Clinton, who is far atop the polls among potential 2016 Democratic candidates, had said during her recent book tour that she and President Clinton left the White House "dead broke."
Eric Cantor to Resign from Congress Posted: 01 Aug 2014 05:47 PM PDT Now-former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) will resign from Congress on Aug. 18, nearly two months after his surprise GOP primary defeat. Cantor announced his plans in an interview with his hometown newspaper, the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the same day he officially stepped down from GOP leadership. According to Cantor, his decision is timed so that Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) can call a special election to coincide with the regular Nov. 4 general election. http://patriotupdate.com/2014/08/cantor-resign-congress/
Rand Paul: CIA Director John Brennan Should Be Fired Posted: 01 Aug 2014 03:38 PM PDT The Kentucky Republican, who filibustered the CIA chief's nomination, is the latest legislator to call for his ouster. CONOR FRIEDERSDORF
Posted: 01 Aug 2014 02:53 PM PDT I was initially going to post this as a comment to a 9/11 post, however, on second thought, I think it warrants its own thread. One of the biggest challenges I have encountered in transforming hearts and minds, is the entrenched notion that government is here to protect us. That thought is particularly obstructive whenever I try to point out the evilness of 9/11 in connection with possible government insider knowledge and complicity with evil doers.
Archeological evidence of human activity found beneath Lake Huron Posted: 01 Aug 2014 02:22 PM PDT This was in 2009 and the update is awesome to read. ANN ARBOR, Mich.—More than 100 feet deep in Lake Huron, on a wide stoney ridge that 9,000 years ago was a land bridge, University of Michigan researchers have found the first archeological evidence of human activity preserved beneath the Great Lakes. http://ns.umich.edu/new/releases/7191-archeological-evidence... Here is an update. http://ns.umich.edu/new/releases/22155-prehistoric-caribou-h...
Traumatized Nurse, Held Hostage in Active Shooter Drill, Sues Posted: 01 Aug 2014 01:47 PM PDT According to Reuters, a nurse is suing her employer and local police officials after she was held hostage in an active shooter safety drill without being briefed on the fact that such a drill was taking place. On October 13, 2013, registered nurse Michelle Meeker was working at Heritage Park Care Center, a nursing home in Carbondale, Colorado, when, according to court documents, she was told by a coworker to check up on a suspicious-looking man who was hanging around in the facility's day room.
| Bill O’Reilly Wants to Know Why Rand Paul Won’t Come on His Show Posted: 01 Aug 2014 01:19 PM PDT by Josh Feldman | 9:07 pm, July 31st, 2014 Rand Paul appeared on MSNBC yesterday to discuss judicial reform. Bill O'Reilly's reaction to that tonight was to make it about himself and wonder why the Republican senator would grace a liberal network with his presence but won't come on The Factor. |
Bill Seeks To Award $1.9M To Man Wrongfully Incarcerated For 38 Years Posted: 01 Aug 2014 10:36 AM PDT In a rare event, a politician is sticking his neck out and seeking justice for a man that the system has chewed-up and spit out. State Sen. Dwight Bullard, D-Miami, has drafted legislation to provide $1.9 million in compensation to Barney Brown. The bill (SB 48), which will be considered during the 2015 legislative session, would attempt to compensate Mr. Brown for wrongfully incarcerating him for thirty-eight years.
